Also to know is, are AirPods compatible with iOS 9?
Yes, they are supported. The devices Apple lists as supported are ones that support the features of the W1. The AirPods User Guide published a few hours ago includes instructions for manually pairing with devices that do not support W1, which would included iOS 9. Put your AirPods in the case.
Secondly, does iPhone 7 have iOS 9? iOS 9 is compatible with all the same devices as iOS 8 (plus, presumably, the iPhone 7 and other new devices that will launch in the autumn). Which means you can get iOS 9 if you've got any of the following devices, which are compatible with iOS 9: iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2.
Keeping this in view, is iOS 9 still supported?
There won't be an immediate effect for you on the iOS 9 versions, however we recommend upgrading to a newer version of the iOS operating system. If your device doesn't support any of the new iOS versions, you should know that: New features will not be supported on devices running iOS 9.
Can I use AirPods with old iPad?
The oldest of these devices: iPhone 5, iPad Air and iPad mini 2 . In this case, the devices must be upgraded to iOS 10. This does not mean that AirPods will not work with older devices or data devices on the older version of iOS. AirPods can be connected to almost any smartphone with a bluetooth module.
