The item in your offhand can only be used for it’s right click function (i.e. eating, placing blocks, blocking with shields).. Note that when you right click, the game first tries to use your main hand, and if the item in it does not have a right click function (or that function is inapplicable where you are targeting), checks your offhand.

Click to expand… In 1.8.8 it probably just prints you the material you dropped before it’s actually dropped. You can still use #getItemInHand () as far I know so try to print that too. If this will return null/air then check if event has event.getDrop () or something because this might was just a bug on 1.8.8.
