How to get sniper duel achievement in minecraft

Just sitting on a 50 meter tall tower and sniping does not trigger the achievement. You need to be in a “duel”, i.e. within the skeleton’s vision range to “get its attention” as mentioned above. Then you can back off (up) to 50 meters and complete the duel. Show activity on this post.

I think this achievement doesn’t work. I also use a NPC guard tower to shot from and built a target post exactly 50 blocks away. I determined that I have to aim 7 blocks above the target at this distance. I killed 3 skeletons at the post and the loot of the third one lay clearly far beyond the 50 meter mark. But still didn’t get the achievement.
