Can you change the max build height in Minecraft bedrock? You can go 256 blocks above in the overworld, but in the nether, there is bedrock above and underneath the nether. As of 21w06a the build height has changed, it is now from y=-64 to y=320. The total build height is now 384 blocks and can be modified using datapacks.

1.17 was announced that it will increase the build height to also include large caves. In snapshot 20w49a there is a “secret feature” where the world limit isn’t capped at 256. You can change the value up to 512.. Configurable in file : data/minecraft/dimension_type/overworld.json
If you started a server the default player limit is 20 players. You can change this, but if you are only playing with a group of friends, 20 should be plenty. This site explains how to download a server:

It does seem a shame to limit everyone so the people who are playing on low end phones don’t risk overtaxing their hardware. Maybe add a toggle in settings to increase fill/clone limits, and it has the warning that some devices might struggle doing large fills or clones. Plus there’s nothing forcing you to do the largest fill/clone possible.
